Moving Diaries: Episode 4 – Dreaming Up the Pool

Welcome back to Moving Diaries! While most of our attention has been focused on the inside of the house lately, where every room seems to be covered in paint samples, construction dust, and endless design decisions. we finally took a little break to step outside and start dreaming about one of the spaces we were most excited about from the very beginning: the pool.

The pool area was honestly one of the biggest reasons we fell in love with this house. The beautiful stonework immediately caught our attention, and even before we moved in, we could picture what this space could become. We kept coming back to the idea of a relaxed, Nantucket-inspired backyard, a place that feels timeless, welcoming, and perfect for slow summer evenings spent with family and friends.

Now we're finally getting to bring that vision to life, one project at a time. The hydrangeas are officially planted, adding that classic coastal charm we've always loved, and the oversized planters are getting their summer refresh with fresh greenery and seasonal flowers. These may seem like small updates, but they're the kinds of details that completely change the way a space feels. It's amazing how a few thoughtful additions can start turning an ordinary backyard into something that feels like home.

There is still a long list of projects ahead of us. We'll continue layering in furniture, landscaping, lighting, and all of the little finishing touches that make an outdoor space feel lived in rather than simply decorated. As with every room in this house, we're taking our time and allowing the design to evolve naturally instead of rushing to finish everything at once.

One of the things I've loved most about this renovation journey is realizing that the process is just as rewarding as the finished result. It's easy to focus on everything that's still left to do, but moments like this remind me to appreciate how far we've already come. Watching a vision slowly unfold has become one of my favorite parts of this entire experience.

I already know this is where we'll spend countless summer nights: hosting friends, watching the sunset, sharing dinners outside, and making memories for years to come. And I can't wait to look back on this video a year from now and see just how much this space has changed. Sometimes it's those before-and-after moments that make all the hard work worth it.
